The worldwide demand for men and women trained in plant biotechnology, integrated pest management, precision farming, postharvest technology, and research and development is growing daily. The 21st century of agriculture will be driven by the need to feed and clothe a growing world population. Meeting this demand will be achieved using methods that sustain the productivity of our farmland while minimizing environmental impact so that future generations may realize their dreams.
Students majoring in Crop Science
or Fruit Science are attaining careers with private sector companies involved with production and related service industries. Alternatively, graduates find rewarding careers with agricultural agencies at the county, State, and Federal level in the public sector.
With cropland on campus, students enjoy hands-on experiential laboratories to enhance their learning and an awareness of industry. The Crop Science Department offers outstanding facilities, one-on-one interactions with faculty, industry internships, and opportunities to become involved with professional organizations and societies.
