Robert A. Flores, Ph.D.

Dr. Flores is a Cal Poly alumnus who supervises student teachers and
teaches Personal Assessment and Study Skills, Computer Applications
in Agricultural Education, and Program Development in Agricultural
Education. He is the former director of the Multicultural
Agriculture Program (MAP), and he serves as the Campus Coordinator
for the California Agricultural Leadership Program. He is advisor to
the Latinos in Agriculture student organization. From 1990 to 1992,
Dr. Flores served as the technical resource person to the Escuela de
Agricultura de la Region Tropical Humeda, a newly established
university located in Costa Rica. He is a Kellogg National
Leadership Program alumnus, a Salzburg Fellow, and served as a
National Mentor to Educational Leadership Fellows of the Rockefeller
Brothers Fund. Specialties: Teacher Education with an Emphasis on
Program Development; Leadership; Cultural Diversity, Integrating
Computer Technology in Agricultural Education.
 Gerald Clark, M.S.

Mr. Clark is a graduate of Cal Poly with a Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture Business, a Master’s Degree in Agriculture, and a Vocational Agriculture Teaching Credential. He taught Agriculture for one year at Galt High School and for 29 years at Templeton High School. Mr. Clark has received his schools District’s Teacher of the Year Award, is honored to have been awarded the National Honorary American FFA Degree, and was named as a California Ag Teacher of Excellence. He spent 2 years in the Agricultural Education and Communication Department at Cal Poly as a Teacher in Residence from Fall 2003 through Spring 2005, bringing current high school teaching and ag department management to our ag teaching candidates. Mr. Clark has returned as a TIR for the 2007-2008 academic year and teaches the Program Development in Ag Education course, the Ag Youth Conferences course, supervises Student Teachers, and assists in coordinating state-wide agriculture teacher, student teacher, and FFA events and conferences. He will assist with CFFA, State Review of the Ag Education and Communication Department, and serve as a departmental representative for the College of Education “Teacher Education Division”.
 Robert Cummings, M.S.

Mr. Cummings will be part of the Agricultural Education & Communication
Department as a Teacher in Residence (TIR) for the 2003-2004
academic year. He will be teaching lower division and graduate
courses. His assignment also includes supervising student teachers.
Mr. Cummings
earned a bachelor degree in Agriculture Business Management in 1963
from Cal Poly. He had the opportunity to student teach at
Atascadero High School, followed by teaching two years at
Atascadero, three years at Templeton High School, worked five years
in production agriculture and then on to Shandon High School where
he has been for the last twenty-two years. He earned his MS Degree
from Cal Poly in 1973.

Dr. Kellogg’s primary responsibility is in teacher preparation. He
teaches Teaching Methods in Agricultural Mechanics and serves as the
Agricultural Education and Communication Department’s student
teaching coordinator. In addition to teaching on-campus courses, Dr.
Kellogg supervises student teachers at high schools throughout the
state. He also teaches Advanced Agriculture Mechanics for the BioResource and Agricultural Engineering Department, and serves on
Masters degree committees for many graduate students. Over the years
he has consulted for many state agencies, including local school
districts, the Commission of Teacher Credentialing, and the
California Department of Education. He is the author of "Safety
Corner," a column in the statewide agricultural education newsletter
devoted to safety awareness for high school and community college
agriculture teachers. Dr. Kellogg also serves as a Director for the
Cal Poly Foundation. He enjoys being advisor for Alpha Tau Alpha and
co-advisor for the Latinos in Agriculture. Specialties: Teacher
Education; Teacher Effectiveness; Agricultural Safety.
 Larry Shuklian

Mr. Shuklian attended
College of Sequoias where he received his AS degree in Ag Science.
After transferring to Cal Poly, he graduated with a BS degree in
Animal Husbandry in 1971.
Mr. Shuklian was employed for a year and a half with the Tulare
County Extension Service where he conducted, collected, and
disseminated research data on both livestock and crops. Deciding to
continue his education, he enrolled at Fresno State and attained his
MS degree in Agricultural Science in 1975. He then procured his
first teaching position at Mr. Whitney High School (his alma mater).
When Visalia Unified built another high school in 1979, they hired
Mr. Shuklian to aid in the initial development of the Agricultural
Department at Golden West. He taught there for twenty-five years.
During his teaching career, Mr. Shuklian had the privilege of being
an adjunct professor at Cal Poly in the fall of 1993, a disseminator
of Equine Science curriculum for Mississippi State in 1996, and the
coach of three state champion Horse Judging teams in 1990, 1993, and
1996.
 J. Scott Vernon, Ph.D.

Dr. Vernon teaches in the Agricultural Education Department and serves as the Co-Director of the Brock Center for Agricultural Communication. He teaches Computer Applications in Agriculture Education, Teaching Methodologies, and Personal Leadership Development. He manages the Livestock Publications Council’s National Writing Contest, and is also a professional auctioneer and motivational speaker. As an auctioneer, Dr. Vernon has helped to raise more than three million dollars at benefit auctions. He is invited to deliver keynote presentations and seminars at conferences and meetings throughout the United States. He was awarded the Honorary American FFA Degree from the National FFA, the highest honor the organization bestows. Dr. Vernon serves as advisor to the CFFA and the Cal Poly Agricultural Communicators of Tomorrow. Specialties: Teaching Methods; Auction Marketing; Leadership Development Training; Public Speaking; Computers in Agriculture; Agricultural Communication; Livestock.
Wendy J. Warner Ph.D.

Dr. Warner earned her B.S. in Agricultural Education from the Ohio State University and her Ph.D. in Agricultural Education from the University of Florida. She also had the opportunity to teach at Corner Lake Middle School in Orlando, Florida and Robert Hungerford Preparatory High School in Eatonville, Florida. Dr. Warner joined the faculty in September 2006 and is currently responsible for the teaching methods course and assisting with the supervision of student teachers. Her research interests include urban Agricultural Education programs, teaching methods, and teacher preparation.
